Community Choices 2010, a non-profit organization in Clark County, WA, was one of only a handful of organizations in the United States to receive a Steps to a Healthier US grant in 2003. As a result of this grant and the broad-based local implementation effort, Clark County as a whole has become significantly more involved in improving the health of its residents. Through this group, the City of Vancouver obtained a grant to develop a Walking Guide for Clark County in 2004. The Walking Guide is a unique document that sets a new standard for community resources used to improve the health of its residents.

The 30-page, spiral bound guides are small enough to fit in some pockets and any sized bag. The front and back cover are laminated, and all of the pages in the Guide were printed on waterproof paper.

The Guide features 10 great walks in the community and also has a pull-out map in the back that features 15 additional walks. Throughout the Guide, there is information on how to start a walking program, tips to be successful with your program, and information on walking if you have diabetes.
