Steps Initiatives - Access to Healthy Foods

To reduce the incidence of obesity and type 2 diabetes in Clark County by assuring access to healthy food options that are affordable, nutritious and culturally appropriate throughout the community.

Title:

Worksite Wellness Mini-Grants

Audience:

Clark County Employers.

What:

The top 50 employers in Clark County were invited to compete for mini-grants to develop or enhance worksite wellness programs and embrace employee wellness. As a result of these grants, nine employers have now implemented or enhanced their employee health programs.

Result:
  • Approximately 18,000 employees in Clark County had better access to healthy foods options in their workplace;
  • Clark College became the first smoke-free college campus in Washington State; and
  • Nutrition Policy adopted and implemented for all Clark County facilities.
